What new commitments for the construction sector has the European parliament approved?

January 08, 2025

New buildings will have to meet stricter energy efficiency and sustainability standards, which will have an impact on construction processes and the materials used. Key requirements:

📍 New buildings: from 2030, all new buildings will have to be completely zero-emission, i.e. they should not emit any greenhouse gases during their operation.

📍 Public buildings: From 2028, new buildings owned by public authorities will have to meet the requirements for zero-emission buildings.

📍 Renovation: EU countries will have to renovate 16% of the least energy-efficient non-residential buildings by 2030 and 26% by 2033. What does this mean for construction companies?

We need to start thinking about change, carefully evaluate material suppliers, work with the best sustainability experts, and invest in more sustainable buildings, because 2030 is just around the corner.
